Foundation Documents

These Foundation Documents aim to clearly communicate the vision, beliefs, and operations of Emmaus Christian Fellowship.

SECTION ONE: OUR VISION

Mission, Vision, Passion, Commission Statement

The purpose of this document is to provide the leadership and people of Emmaus Christian Fellowship with clarity, movement, alignment, and focus concerning the mission of Emmaus Christian Fellowship Church.

Clarity - Our aim is to be clear about who we are, what our mission is, and how we plan to accomplish the mission that God has given to us in practical terms.

Movement - Our goal is for all who attend Emmaus to understand how to get involved and how to grow as a part of this church...

Emmaus Distinctives

The following statements communicate succinctly what it is that makes Emmaus Christian Fellowship distinct. Please reference other pieces within our Foundation Documents for more clarity concerning our vision, beliefs, and practices...

Theological Vision for Ministry

This is not an outline of our doctrinal beliefs (see the Statement of Faith), but a statement of how we intend to discharge Christian ministry and interact with our culture in biblical and theological faithfulness. This statement was adopted with permission from the Gospel Coalition...

Resolutions

The essence of this document was presented by Pastor Joe Anady in May of 2011, and it represents the initial vision of Emmaus Christian Fellowship. It is included in our Foundational Documents as a reminder of our original vision and as a guide for future decisions...

SECTION TWO: WHAT WE BELIEVE

Statement of Faith

This is the official Statement of Faith of Emmaus Christian Fellowship. For more detailed information concerning the beliefs of the Leadership of Emmaus please see the London Baptist Confession of 1689. For information concerning how these beliefs shape ministry at Emmaus, please see our Theological Vision for Ministry. Both documents are contained within the Foundation Documents of Emmaus Christian Fellowship...

London Baptist Confession of 1689

"This ancient document is a most excellent epitome of the things most surely believed among us. By the preserving hand of the Triune Jehovah we have been kept faithful to the great points of our glorious Gospel, and we feel more resolved perpetually to abide by them..." C. H. Spurgeon. THE CHICAGO STATEMENTS ON BIBLICAL INERRANCY AND HERMENEUTICS

These statements have been adopted by Emmaus Christian Fellowship for the purpose of strengthening and clarifying that which is already stated in the Statement of Faith and in the London Baptist Confession of Faith. We believe that the Chicago Statements on Biblical Inerrancy and Biblical Hermeneutics are helpful given that one's view on inerrancy and hermeneutics are so foundational to all other theological issues...

CATECHISM

The purpose of catechism at Emmaus Christian Fellowship is to take the totality of scripture from Genesis to Revelation and methodically introduce its foundational truths. Emmaus Christian Fellowship utilizes the Baptist Catechism of 1693 to reflect our theological beliefs...

POSITION PAPERS

The purpose of this document is to provide a place for the elders of Emmaus Christian Fellowship to express their position on issues of doctrine or ministry practices that have not been covered in other areas of the Foundation Documents. The London Baptist Confession, for example, was written in 1689 and, therefore, does not explicitly deal with modern issues that may need to be addressed by the elders of the church...

SECTION THREE: HOW WE OPERATE

MEMBERSHIP PROCESS

The elders of Emmaus Christian Fellowship (ECF) have been entrusted with the responsibility and privilege of shepherding the flock of God. In order to effectively provide pastoral care, the elders have deemed it best to establish the following membership process and to encourage all who attend Emmaus to progress through the process. By doing so individuals will commit themselves to this local body of believers and entrust themselves to the loving care of the elders...

CHURCH COVENANT

This document expresses the covenant which the people of Emmaus Christian Fellowship enter into with one another and with the elders of the church when becoming members. This covenant will be renewed annually through personal interaction with a Pastor/Elder and corporately in a regularly scheduled worship service in the Fall of each year...

BYLAWS

The purpose of these Bylaws is to ensure that Emmaus Christian Fellowship is governed in an orderly, responsible, and Biblical way. This documents states in detail how the church is to be governed in a way that is honoring to God and above reproach before man.

POLICY AND PROCEDURES

This is a working document which will be added to over time as Emmaus grows and requires the establishment of more detailed policy and procedures.

This document contains the job descriptions of the ministry directors and pastors of Emmaus Christian Fellowship.
